The Big Island Bulb Blitz is a community-led effort to bring the benefits of energy efficiency to Hawai‘i Island homes. Residents are encouraged to bring their old incandescent bulbs to local CFL exchanges, where program participants will swap them for free, energy-saving CFLs. Check our events calendar for upcoming CFL exchanges in your neighborhood. Or text CFL to 877877 for mobile updates.

CFLs use 75% less energy than old-style, incandescent bulbs, and can save your household $161 over the lifespan of the bulb. By lowering our collective energy use, we help reduce Hawai‘i's dependence on imported fossil fuels. After all, our energy use is all connected. Your smart efficiency choices benefit the entire community. Mahalo for your participation!

If every household on Hawai‘i Island achieved Hawaii Energy's 3 CFL Challenge, residents could save about $39.5 million in electricity costs! Visit HawaiiEnergy.com/3CFLs to find a CFL savings calculator and a CFL shopping guide. Turn those old incandescent bulbs into instant savings by installing energy-saving CFLs today!
