We've been hard at work on House Bill 1580, which sets a target for 100% renewable ground transportation no later than 2045. This week, the bill is in the final stage at the state legislature.
Want to help? All you need is a phone and 2 minutes. Lawmakers need to hear from citizens like YOU! Please call the office of Senator Lorraine Inouye to ask her to pass House Bill 1580 and a vision for 100% clean transportation by 2045.
Blue Planet Foundation worked with over 1,000 students in Hawaii to raise awareness about why we should transition to 100% renewable transportation. Students from across the state drew pictures of the world they want to see in 2045 and wrote messages to legislators thanking them for their leadership in 2017.
What does Hawaii’s energy independence and a world free from fossil fuels mean to you? Share your personal story about why setting a goal for 100% clean transportation is important. Writing letters to the editor is an effective way to share your passion for clean energy and highlight why we need a future that’s free from climate-damaging fossil fuels. The most effective letters are those that directly state a position or opinion on a timely topic that relates to recent or upcoming news and events. Sharing a personal story about how an issue impacts you or your community makes your letter unique.
The Star-Advertiser welcomes letters up to 150 words and guest columns of 500-600 words. Note that the Star-Advertiser reserves the right to edit letters for clarity and length. Be sure to avoid personal attacks, which will not be published. Letters must (a) be signed and include your area of residence and (b) include a daytime telephone number (not for publication).
