Blue Planet Foundation will host the Blue Tie Bash, a new annual event and the organization’s first ever charitable fundraising gala, on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 5:30pm at the Hawaii Convention Center. The dinner reception is expected to bring together top business, community, and thought leaders who are dedicated to accelerating Hawaii’s transition to 100% clean energy.
“The path to 100% clean energy is about people,” noted Melissa Miyashiro, Blue Planet’s Chief of Staff. “And as a public charity, our donors, supporters, and volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. We’re excited to bring them together to show them how their support and generosity are truly making a difference for Hawaii, and the globe. They are the true heroes behind our work.”
The event will include a wine tasting cocktail hour hosted by Johnson Brothers of Hawaii, live jazz music, dinner prepared from locally sourced ingredients, a photo booth sponsored by Photo Ops Hawaii, a silent auction featuring unique items, and a live auction of one-of-a-kind experiences, like travel packages and box seats for premier sporting events. Electric vehicles from BMW, Tesla, Nissan, and Servco Toyota will also be on display to showcase the critical role of clean transportation on Hawaii’s path to 100%.
The funds raised at the event will go toward Blue Planet Foundation’s advocacy, awareness, and community action programs, like the newly expanded Student Energy Innovation and Leadership Academy that kicked off last year with a one-day summit, gathering middle and high school students from all major Hawaiian islands for design-thinking challenges and interactive learning on key energy issues.
A limited number of table packages for the event are still available. Blue Planet is also maintaining a wait list for individual tickets. Table packages can be purchased online or by contacting [email protected].
