Blue Planet Foundation today announced Noreen Reimel has joined the team as its Communications Director.
In her role, Reimel is charged with leading the Honolulu-based charity’s communications strategy and implementation, working closely with partners, media, and stakeholders to share Blue Planet’s mission and impact for a 100% clean energy future.
“We are pleased to have someone with Noreen’s wealth of experience lead our communications efforts,” said Jeff Mikulina, Executive Director of the Blue Planet Foundation. “Sharing our message is critical to help us advocate, empower, and inform people and communities on what needs to be done to reach our urgent climate and clean energy goals. We’re confident that Noreen’s guidance and expertise can help us achieve them.”
“In my previous work, I had opportunities to collaborate with Blue Planet representatives on various projects in the past, and I’ve always enjoyed working with them,” said Reimel. “Now that I’m part of the team, I look forward to showcasing all of Blue Planet’s programs and impacts via strategic communications efforts.”
Reimel brings with her more than 22 years of experience in media, public relations and marketing, including seven years in Hawaii’s energy industry. She most recently served as the communications manager for Ulupono Initiative, where she was deeply involved in the organization’s electrification of transportation work and video campaigns. Prior to that, she worked as the chief communications officer at the Hawaii State Energy Office and as an account supervisor at McNeil Wilson Communications.
A graduate of McKinley High School in Honolulu, Reimel earned her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She currently serves on the boards for Re-use Hawaii and PRSA Hawaii.
