(HONOLULU) Blue Planet Foundation celebrated its clean energy projects and partners at the Blue Tie Bash on Friday, September 20th, raising a record amount of $195,000.
More than 300 guests donned their best blue party attire at the nonprofit’s 4th annual fundraising gala at the Alohilani Resort. Attendees enjoyed locally sourced food by Chef David Lukela, silent and live auctions, and entertainment by award-winning singer Amy Hanaiali‘i. The proceeds will go to support the charity organization’s work in clearing the path for 100% clean energy.
“Getting Hawai‘i off fossil-fuels is critical to ensuring we have a sustainable, livable home, not just in our neighborhood but as a whole planet,” said Chelsie Castillo, development director of Blue Planet Foundation. “We appreciate the support of local and national business leaders, renewable energy organizations, and community partners who recognize our team’s efforts and find value in seeking clean energy solutions to climate change.”
This year, Blue Planet honored JTB Hawai‘i with the 2019 Honua Award for the launch of the tour company’s fleet of three electric-powered commercial buses earlier this year. Blue Planet facilitated a youth art contest for the fleet, resulting in colorful student artwork that now adorns the bus exteriors.
