Blue Planet Foundation is pleased to announce that Executive Director Jeff Mikulina has been selected as one of fifteen leaders to participate in Cohort VI of the Omidyar Fellows program.
“Under Jeff’s collaborative leadership, Blue Planet has reframed what is possible for our energy future—in Hawaii and beyond,” said Henk Rogers, founder and board chair of Blue Planet Foundation. “I am confident that Jeff will bring to the Forum of Fellows network his passion, curiosity, hard work, and commitment to ongoing leadership for Hawaii’s future.”
As part of the program, Fellows participate in a 15-month leadership curriculum geared toward societal change and leadership development. After completing the curriculum portion of the program, participants join the Forum of Fellows, which continues to meet quarterly, participates in cross-cohort events and workshops, and commits to making a positive difference for the benefit of Hawaii with the knowledge and network gained through the program.
“I was compelled to apply to the program because I want to amplify my capacity to give back to the community I serve and the team that I lead,” stated Mikulina. “I’m humbled to be selected to join Cohort VI and look forward to being a highly engaged member of the program.”
Mikulina joined Blue Planet Foundation in 2008 and has led the organization through numerous policy victories, community campaigns, and one-of-a-kind initiatives. Over the course of two decades as an advocate for sustainability, Mikulina helped to pass landmark legislation including Hawaii’s 100% renewable energy requirement, a solar mandate for new homes in Hawaii, the bottle deposit law, and curbside recycling for Oahu, among other successes.
“Jeff Mikulina is an effective leader with a surplus of drive, humility, humor, and vision,” added Rogers. “On behalf of Blue Planet Foundation’s board and leadership, we congratulate Jeff on this well-deserved honor.”
