Project Re:Power is a partnership between Blue Planet Foundation and the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators to build and engage a network of state legislators from across the country who want to follow Hawaii’s lead and set bold targets for clean energy and climate action.
In 2017, Blue Planet Foundation and the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators partnered to launch Project Re:Power, an initiative to accelerate renewable energy standards at the state level. Leveraging Hawaii’s specific experience and lessons from adopting and implementing the country’s most advanced renewable energy law, the Re:Power network helps state legislators pass bold renewable energy and climate action targets.
Project Re:Power convenes a network of legislators from a range of geographic regions and political affiliations. Since the project’s launch, the Project Re:Power team has created and unveiled a tiered advocacy toolkit, conducted focus groups with legislators to identify needs and pain points, and hosted a strategy workshop with a select group of 10 committed legislators from 8 states that are ready to take the next steps to pursue 100% renewable energy goals.
And we’re just getting started. In 2018 and 2019, we’re expanding the project to develop state-specific toolkit resources and host in-state stakeholder workshops.
