Blue Planet works to shape and advance transformative public policy that accelerates our clean energy progress while ensuring that the transition to our clean energy future is inclusive, coordinated, and cost-effective. Blue Planet is at the table when critical decisions are being made, helping to shape the outcome through well-researched, effective, and steadfast advocacy.
In the 2021 legislative session, we focused our legislative efforts on a portfolio of policy solutions featured in our Waypoints report to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free economy. This includes measures that price carbon emissions, require an increasing percentage of zero-emission vehicles in rental car and state vehicle fleets, create a Hawai‘i-specific label for appliances, establish a “feebate” on luxury gas vehicles to fund elec-tric vehicle (EV) charger rebates, require that all new parking stalls be wired for EV chargers, and numerous other measures. Blue Planet will also continue to work at the county level to support building and transportation measures that advance our rapid decarbonization goals.
