Griff leads Blue Planet’s education programs, student and teacher engagement activities, and youth outreach. He grew up in central Illinois playing football, baseball, and basketball. Griff graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa, where he also led the school’s football team to the semifinals in his junior year. He has been living in Hawaii since 2010.
Griff began his teaching career in Southern California and has been an educator in the public, private, and charter school systems since 2005. Preserving the future has been a common thread throughout his career, from spearheading green initiatives like the Go Green and Garden Clubs and a school-wide recycling program, to his most recent posting at the progressive, sustainability-focused SEEQS charter school in Honolulu.
Griff’s owner is Eddie, a three-legged cat (@tripod_eddie).
“From a young age, I always knew I wanted to work in education in some capacity. Over the years, my enthusiasm for building a sustainable future grew exponentially. At Blue Planet Foundation, I get to combine both of my passions while working with incredibly intelligent, heartfelt people who are all driven to achieve the same goal.”
